Hey guys! The weekend is upon us, it’s the eve of a new month, and boy let me tell you, I have been an anxious Amy! Although a great deal of my anxiety has much more to do with the excitement and delight in anticipating what’s ahead, it has become a tinge overwhelming. I’ve pondered and imagined, put my vision to paper, as well as rehearsed the spoken promises of God for me to my restless heart! The control freak in me wants to fast forward to the point in the year/time where all of the lingering wonder that I am nursing meets the answers or manifested promises. Yet and still here I am, letting patience have her perfect work (James 1:4).

My Pastor posted not too long about the importance of pace. He mentioned that if we are feeling overwhelmed, than likely we’re out of sync with God’s pace or Grace’s Rhythm as I like to call it. Much of the week, I have felt overwhelmed. Again, not necessarily in a dreadful sense, mostly in a fashion of how long and when? Then the questions begin right? “What if I miss it? What if I get out of sync? What if this and what if that?” Yadi-Yadi-Ya!

So I had to have a conversation with myself and Holy Spirit. I had to start asking clarifying questions you know? The truth is, no matter how badly we want a thing or somethings, we can’t make it happen out of time and if we do get the unmitigated courage to manipulate the timeline of anything, grave disappointment IS the result!

So what do we do? We give Thanks!!

I get off of work at 7:30pm, the clock read 7pm and the number of calls in the queue were few. So, I pulled out my journal and went to scribbling. I thanked and thanked and thanked. As I wrote, Philippians 4:6 floated to the shores of my heart. One translation uses the word, supplication. Supplication is from the Latin verb supplicare, which means to “plead humbly” (https://www.vocabulary.com/dictionary/supplication).

As I wrote I considered this my plea. Plea could have a negative connotation right. In our humanity we can take the position of “I’m not begging nobody” and that can boil over into our relationship with God. However it does not hold that same flare, plead. It instead carries the tone of adoration and wonder per our source. I ask knowing that He’s the one who gave the desire and desires to fulfill it!

How amazing huh?

I noticed that the more I thanked, the more the pressure and the tension I felt in my heart ease. It’s almost as if every request and petition, every hope, want, and desire, even my frustrations found a place. They weren’t all screaming at me at once. Peace settled, and my petitions moved from idols back to their place in queue. See how I did that?

The authority in thanksgiving gave direction. Relieved the pressure, and established order. I’m grateful for a God who has an answer for everything concerning my waiting heart. Romans 8:24 in the message bible explains this beautifully:

That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:22-25‬ ‭MSG‬‬

So guys, as we look forward expectantly, let’s not forget the power and authority in Thanksgiving. It will regulate your ever expanding heart, making room for what’s to come!

Heyyyy February... whatcha got for us?!

Love you so much!
